Another update on a very successful year from Chris

2 months ago Chris smashed an impressive 51min PB at Ironman Copenhagen. Prior to the event he told me he wanted to prepare for the Sahara Desert two day Ultra in October. This is a tough ultramarathon, running 50 plus KM for 2 days in a row running in the sand dunes of the Sahara.

This was going to be a big ask.

The first thing was to try and recover from the Ironman.

A few weeks later we were on track with the ultramarathon specific training which included trail sessions and functional training. The game changer for me was the weekly heat adaptation sessions that I prescribed for him in the heat chamber at West Of Scotland. University, which allowed him to partially acclimatise for the desert.
On route to the Sahara he knocked out a good result at the William Wallace Ultra at Stirling.

The result of this hard work and specific training was that on Sunday Chris finished the Sahara 2 day ultra in a truly amazing 5th place.

So proud of you Chris!
